unit 4 ass. 1

Last year my sister and Jasmine and I were involved in a fight with three girls who we use to be friends with. The fight shouldnt had happened, because it was over he say she say. I didnt try my best to avoid the fight, but I could have. The outcome of the fight was more drama, because it never died until we moved to Athens. I learned that im to old to pay childish drama any attention.

Growing up involves a lot of change. There can be fun things about growing up and there also can be things that you weren't looking foward to. As of now im having a painful time growing up, because there is a lot on my plate, but i think later on things will get exciting. When you grow up responsibilities become harder and stressful. Things like paying bills, going to jail and getting a record, making a good amount of money to support yourself and your family, and having time to do things can be the painful part of growing up. Some exciting things could be voting, going out to clubs and having a good time, and being the legal age to do things. So there are many pros and cons dealing with growing up.

Every day someone breaks the law. Some people have good reasons for doing so. When you think that your rights are being taking away for no good reason then breaking the law is no problem to me as my opinion. During the American Revolution many laws were broken just as they were during the civil rights movements. Some of them were for a good cause and now helps our country out today. Both American Revolution and civil rights movements have a few things in common when it comes to breaking the law and being justified for it.

During the American Revolution the colonists were being mistreated by being taxed for things by the British when they didn’t have the money for the tax. For an example they taxed the tea and order the Americans to pay before a dead line. It was known as the Boston tea party. A group of colonists felt they should stand up for their country and took a boat trip and dumped all the tea in the Boston Harbor. I believe that the colonists were right, because when your country isn’t doing well enough to pay extra money then something must be done.

The civil rights movements had a lot going on from 1955 through 1968. Many African Americans broke the law to make things be equal for all Americans. They would have marches and sit-ins just to share the same rights that the whites had. They didn’t ask for much but too be treated fairly. My opinion on them breaking the law would be that they were right. Everyone deserves to be treated the same; therefore they did have the right to break the law.

Both colonists and the African Americans stood up for their selves and our country. I appreciate what they both did for us today. If they wouldn’t have did what they did who knows how America would be today. I believe that breaking the law can be justified depending on what it is. I give thanks to the colonists and the African Americans form the American Revolution and the 20th century.

The Surrender of Cornwallis

I learned a few things from the article I read. One of the most important things I found out would be that soldiers can’t win a war if they are sick and tired. I realize that Cornwallis lost a great number of men out of his troop. Cornwallis didn’t have many options left so he surrenders. I don’t blame him for doing so, because he had to do what was best for himself and his troops.

1. To gain unlawful power.
To protect us from foreign invaders.
To prevent monoplies.
To represent and serve the people.
To establish courts of Justice.

2. I don't think so, because one person can't change all the wishes of others. My opinion would mean nothing. I think it would be a waste of my time.

Alexander Falconbridge's account of the slave trade

1. I learned a few things that i didnt know. I found out that before the European bought their slaves they examined them first. I also read that they would kill the slaves that were old of age, sick, or deformed.

2. What suprised me the most was that they put the men slaves together two by two with their wrist in handcuffs and they put iron on tiop of their legs. The women were kept in a different part of the ship.

3. Africans now days dont have to worry about being mistreated. Africans in the past were treated worse then dirt. It hurt my heart from what I read.
